ABOUT US

Calvary Christian Fellowship is an Independent Evangelical Church situated in the heart of a former pit village, Silksworth, South of Sunderland.

"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." - 1 Peter 1:24-25

OUR VISION

Our aim, as a body of Christians, is to reach our community with the Gospel & love of the Lord Jesus Christ and also to strengthen each other in our spiritual walk with Him.

WHAT WE DO

The church, as a whole, meets twice on Sundays for worship. We also hold various meetings for all ages throughout the week. More information can be found on our Services and Weekly Meetings pages.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our church family comes from across the North-East, predominantly based throughout the local village of Silksworth. We are a family orientated church which holds strong Biblical values with a Reformed doctrine.

OUR ARTICLES OF FAITH

We believe that true fellowship requires agreement on basic matters of faith including:

1. The sovereignty of God in creation, redemption, revelation and final judgement.

2. The Divine inspiration and infallibility of the Bible (comprised of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament), as originally written and its supreme authority on all matters of faith and conduct.

3. The Godhead eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and these three are the one true God.

4. The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, making man subject to God’s condemnation.

5. The equal value of every human life as having been created in the image of God. That each person is either male or female, and that a person’s gender is determined at conception and is inherently the same as their sex which cannot be changed or reassigned. Each person is called to live out their life according to their God-given sex.

6. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our representative and substitute) of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

7. The justification of the sinner only by the grace of God through faith in Christ, crucified and risen from the dead.

8. The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and empowering work of the Holy Spirit.

9. The priesthood of all believers who form the universal church, which is the body of Christ.

10. The preservation of the saints.

11. The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory.

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we

may spur one another toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouragingone another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:23-25
